Launceston Junior Summer Open 2023

The Launceston summer open 2023 took place on Friday the 28th of July, there were events for junior boys, junior girls and a under 13 mixed singles.

Mary Shanks overcame a spirited challenge from Molly Hobbs in the girls final and won in straight sets. Mary from Launceston will be heading to SW19 in August to play at Wimbledon in the girls national under 14s road to Wimbledon finals. I am sure I speak for all at Launceston tennis club in wishing Mary all the very best of luck. The mixed u13s singles was won by Rylan Hawkey (Wadebridge) who won his semi final against Owen Worth (Launceston) and final against Mary Shanks (Launceston).

The junior boys was won by Ben Marshall (Wadebridge) overcoming a a determined finalist Zach Hopkins (Launceston) in straight sets in the final.

The rain made a few brief appearances as did a strengthing wind, the competitor's adapted there games well and thank you to all who attended.
